BN win saved state from chaos — Pandi

KUCHING: Sarawak should consider itself lucky that Barisan Nasional (BN) had managed to thwart Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) aggressive campaigns by retaining power after the just-concluded election.

PBB vice Youth chief Pandi Suhaili said this was because barely a month after the opposition group won some seats in the election, its leaders were already at loggerheads.

“Sarawakians should be grateful that BN managed to win the election because if the opposition did win, it is certain to be chaos in the state.

“They could not even agree on the shadow cabinet line-up and what more to say when they are the government,” said Pandi when contacted yesterday.

He said the opposition parties’ disagreement over the shadow cabinet lineup clearly confirmed his assertion in the past that they were actually only interested in obtaining power and not fight for the interest of the rakyat.

PBB Youth: Squabbles in PR confirm desire for power

Posted on March 19, 2011, Saturday

KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) youth wing has labelled the public squabbles of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties over state constituencies as confirmation that they are only interested in getting power.

PBB vice-youth chief Pandi Suhaili said the tussle on seat allocation further strengthen the perception that the opposition is not concerned about the people’s welfare.

“The public squabbles on the seat allocation clearly shows that they are blinded and guided by their greed to wrest power from BN (Barisan Nasional) at all costs,” said Pandi, who is also the youth wing’s economy bureau chief, when contacted.

He said although Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) might choose to put aside their differences later, voters should not be convinced by the supposed show of unity.

He pointed out that if the two parties are really sincere about serving the rakyat, they would not openly disagree over the constituencies.

PBB sec-gen denies party taking Bengoh from SUPP

Posted on March 15, 2011, Tuesday

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary-general Dr Stephen Rundi dismissed talks that his party was interested to take over Bengoh seat from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) as mere “political rumours”.

This is because PBB had always been loyal to its fellow component parties in Barisan Nasional (BN) and would never resort to any tactic to undermine any component party, he pointed out.

“It is never in our agenda to backstab a fellow component party in BN. We will always cooperate with all the parties in BN,” he said when contacted yesterday.

PBB supreme council member Datuk Dr James Dawos was the first to respond to the rumours when he was asked by the press last Saturday.

He had said as far as BN was concerned, Bengoh was and would continue to belong to SUPP unless there was a seat swapping agreement.

KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiutera Bersatu (PBB) Youth movement thanked the Home Ministry for giving assurance that it would not leave any stones unturned in its investigation into the operation of Radio Free Sarawak (RFS).

Vice youth chief Pandi Suhaili said the movement felt relief with this assurance because it wants the radio station to stop from broadcasting its malicious lies to the rakyat.

“We are living in a multi-racial state by which it is of great importance for all of us to have a good relationship with all communities in order to have a peaceful life.

“Therefore, we must not condone any act of planting the seeds of hatred among the rakyat by irresponsible party such as RFS,” he said when met yesterday.

On Tuesday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein was quoted as saying the ministry would investigate into the operation of the radio station because “I want Malaysia to be safe.”

PKR fighting for justice without justice within — Karim

Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah
Ketua Setiausaha Politik Ketua Menteri Sarawak
Posted on January 4, 2011, Tuesday

KUCHING: Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, chief political secretary to the Chief Minister, yesterday chided Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for claiming to fight for justice while failing to dispense justice within the party itself.

He reminded PKR vice-president Baru Bian to ‘cakap mesti mau serupa bikin’ (walk the talk) and not hoodwink the rakyat by brushing aside fundamental issues in PKR as petty issues.

“How can you claim to fight for justice, good governance and transparency when you and your party are not practising it?” he asked in reference to the many unresolved internal PKR issues as claimed by several party former leaders like Datuk Zaid Ibrahim and Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

Baru, who is also PKR Sarawak chief, when asked last Sunday to comment on the resignation of Jeffrey said the party would not lose its strength in Sarawak.

He believed voters in Sarawak would still vote for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat for a change in government as there were more important issues like land rights and the need for better infrastructure to look into.
