KUCHING: Sarawakians must not let themselves be duped by the opposition parties that they have the people’s interest at heart.
This is because the only thing that matters to them is to be a dominant pact in the state and not to fight for the people’s interest, said PBB vice youth chief Pandi Suhaili.
He pointed out that the opposition pact’s true colour was evident when the various opposition parties spent all of their time sorting out their internal problems regarding seats allocation instead of attending to the rakyat.
“All this while, the opposition likes to project an image as the people’s fighter of which the interest of the rakyat is the paramount interest of the party.
“However, the pressure during the negotiation process has caused them to blurt out to admit that what matters to them is to be a dominant party in Sarawak and not the rakyat’s interest,” he said when contacted in Miri.
To him, the rakyat only had themselves to blame if they continue to believe that only the opposition could help them highlight their problems or needs, stressing that the rakyat actually did not need any opposition party or politician to help them.
“The rakyat can always share their problems or concerns with us (BN) because the very existence of us (BN) is to serve the rakyat. The rakyat is the cause of our struggles and therefore, the interest of rakyat is always at the core of our hearts,” he said.
Pandi also cautioned that the opposition parties, upon realising their mistakes, would attempt to engage in a damage control by saying they had resolved their seats negotiation.
He thus advised the rakyat not to be too quick to believe them when they say they have settled their differences.
“For the sake of establishing a united front for the state election, the opposition will claim that they have settled the matter amicably.
“But deep down in their hearts, they are waiting for an opportunity to jump at each other’s throats for the sake of accomplishing their goal as a dominant party in Sarawak,” he said.
